Task 1


Provide a forecast of what the workforce demand would be over a five-year period to produce and market your team's technical application or process. Include the impact such production would have on the marketplace.

We will need a major change in the workforce demand over a five period to produce and market our team's product. During the first year there will be, at least, a 20% increase in the workforce demand. Every year after that there will be a linear in crease of 5% each year. So, from the start of our team's product being made until end of a five year period there will be a 40% increase.
We think a huge impact will take place if our product will be put on marketplace. We think this because when people think of a solar pool they think it is very high-tech. Also many celebrities will have lots of interest in saving money to heat there house water and some will have interest in being the first to get one. Not only celebrities but also rich teenagers and other rich families that have interset in our product. We also think this product will be very expensive, being about or close to $12,000. We think this product will be a good one and also a very successful one that many people will like and be very interested in.

Task 2

1. http://www.mse.mtu.edu/grad.html Materials Science Engineering Michigan Tech This graduate degree program in science and engineering is offered in Houghton, Michigan. This program of study is ranked 18th in materials science in the United States by US News and World Report in its 2005 “Best Colleges” rankings. It offers MS and PhD thesis programs. This program has great research facilities and opportunities.

2. http://www.unh.edu/mechanical-engineering/index.html Mechanical Engineering University Of New Hampshire This undergraduate degree program in science and engineering is offered in New Hampshire. It is a program that offers the B.S., the M.S., and the Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering. IN this university there is also an active Graduate Program and the M.E. faculty there also advises graduate stud ents in the Systems Design, Materials Science and Ocean Engineering Programs.

Task 3

Solar Panel Efficiency

A new engineering program or degree that might emerge based on our research would be the study of solar panel efficiency. People would research how to make solar panels more efficient for heating or lighting a house. They could develop solar panels that could be programmed to direct the most energy towards things they wanted the most, such as in summer, air conditioning, or in winter, heating. People could have fully powered solar houses, if they choose to, or “hybrid” houses, which would not eliminate, but significantly reduce their electricity bill. Further research in this area could open up many possibilities for the use of solar panels.
