Component Two

Task one
Iomai Corp- Iomai produces influenza vaccines. They are currently pursuing two different ways to prevent influenza. By using TCI technology they will develop a vaccine patch designed to inject able vaccines, also, they are developing a patch that will improve the effectiveness of inject able vaccine in the elderly.

Task Two
MedImmune is a company that has devoted their cause to finding better medicines for their patients and alternative options for physicians. They have products out such as FluMist®, Synagis® and Ethyol®. All there to help prevent certain diseases in a more reasonable way then previously done.®

Task Three
Imagine, not having to drag your children to the doctor each year to get their shots. Or, if you do not have kids, what could you do with your two extra hours instead of waiting to get your flu shot at the doctor's office. Soon, those dreams may become a reality. Our team is proposing a new way of protecting you and your family from the flu. Using technology found in nicotine patches, we would produce a flu patch. Just by putting the patch on once a day for one week, you could miss that annual flu shot. This would be on a persons arm for 12 hours a day, and could be easily disposed once the wearer wants to take it off. The patch would be easy to put on, all you would need to do would be to unwrap the patch (revealing the adhesive) and placing in onto your arm. By doing this you can save yourself from having to deal with whining children and you can save those two or three hours you may have to spend waiting to see a doctor. Our flu patch would have the influenza vaccines inside the patch and on the opposite side there would be adhesive glue, so that the patch would stick, but would be painless when you would have to take it off. That is our proposal for our ISTF project. So, what would you rather do, put a patch on your arm, or get a shot that could take two hours of waiting. That is the idea behind the flu patch.
Task Four
      Hello, I am Samantha,
and I am currently working in a group for a school project to develop an alternative to flu vaccines. We attend the Dearborn Center for Math Science and Technology, and were wondering if it was possible to build a patch, similar to the nicotine patch, that would be able to transmit the flu vaccines into the human body with out using needles. This would also be known as the flu patch. If this were to be possible, we were wondering if your company would be able to manufacture this flu patch. Please respond as soon as possible.

Thanks for your time,
    Samantha, Alex and Hussein
