Task 1
Our National Critical Technology is environmental quality. This is becoming a huge problem especially in the United States. As the years go by, the country and the world gets more and more industrialized. New cars, more factories, and more sewage is effecting our natural environment dramatically. With new industry, power plants and cars there more air pollution, and more use of fossil fuels. Removed new statement remove our group is looking to tackle one of these problems. In the past there have been many advances toward this goal. Such advances include the clean air acts in 1955, 1963, 1970, and 1990. The clean air act of 1955 put up an effort to research and put into action viable air pollution control methods. The clean air act in 1963 established emission standards on steel mills and, and power plants. These were current the largest source of air pollution. The clean air act of 1970, which was officially an amendment to previous acts, increased restrictions and put emission standards on both mobile and stationary “pollution sources”. The last clean air act in 1990 was put in place to update standards to the current age, and fixed flaws in the previous clean air acts. It also addressed main areas of pollution regulation, air-quality standards, motor vehicle standards and alternative fuels. Many advances have been made and advancements are yet to come.
