Teaming and Communication Assessment:

Teaming:

Through the last couple of months our team has been working on an ISTF project. In the beginning we had problems working well together and went our own way working as individuals. We had trouble coming up with an idea to base our project on, and later we had trouble coming up for a name for our idea. Once we realized that we needed to work more as a team, work began to get done faster. Soon we found ourselves accomplishing many tasks and components. Not only did we start to work together as a group, but we also worked with our technical advisor, informing her about our projects and our problem/solution statements. When we first had trouble we went to a class member for help, but as time went on we started to work with our teacher as well.

Communication:

Throughout the time the group spent together working on the ISTF project, our communication skills have progressed. In the beginning, the team hardly ever sent emails or talked out of school. Now, the group sends emails to each other at least once a day, but still has never met out side of school. Communication with the technical advisor was difficult at first because we could not find a technical advisor. After we found someone willing to do the job, we started to communicate. There have been few emails with our technical advisor, but enough that she has helped us a great deal. Communication with our teacher did not change by much. In the beginning we did not have many questions or concerns, so we did not communicate with her for very much. Recently our team leader has communicated with our teacher once a week, so she can make sure we stay on top of our assignments, and our progress. This project has influenced us all on ways to communicate with others.

Lessons:

Our team learned three lessons while working on ISTF. The first lesson is that good communication makes everything a lot easier. As well as this, we learned that technology does not always make communication easier. The team has also learned that when there is a lot of research needed to be done, it is important to keep track of your sites, and give credit to the information found. Another thing the team has learned is that organization plays a big part in completing your work. If you are not organized it is difficult to keep track of what you have done and what you have left to do.
