Graduation Requirements

In order for a student to qualify for a diploma in this District, s/he must have satisfactorily completed the following courses and earned at least twenty-three (23) credits.

Graduation must be earned by passing all mandated subjects, a major sequence, and earning total units required for the specific diploma sought.

Students in special education shall receive a diploma if certified they have properly completed the requirements of their IEP. They shall participate in all graduation activities.

Diploma - The requirements for graduation are based on grades nine (9) through twelve (12) and are listed below.

2 credits (Classes of 2007 & 2008)

3 credits (Including Algebra II for classes 2009 & 2010)

Third Semester Requirement may be met by activities such as the following:

  • 2 Semesters of Marching Band
  • 2 Seasons of participation in Interscholastic Sports
  • Organized Physical Activities such as Hockey, Figure Skating, or Programmed Gymnastics*

*Buiilding Principal Permission is required

Michigan Merit Exam (MME) Requirement All graduates must take the MME in their Junior year.  
Michigan Merit Curriculum Beginning with the class of 2011, all students will need to meet the new State requirements. New State Requirements for class of 2011

Electives must include two (2) credits (two (2) years of Foreign Language, Fine or Performing Arts, Vocational Education, or Practical Arts [Career and Technical Education], or any combination thereof.)

For the official records, student class placement will be determined in the following manner:

  • Less than five (5) credits = Freshman
  • Five (5) credits to less than ten (10) credits = Sophomore
  • Ten (10) credits to less than fifteen (15) credits = Junior
  • Fifteen (15) credits to twenty-three (23) credits = Senior

Students enrolling from schools having different graduation requirements will have their credits pro-rated for class placement. All incoming students will be informed of these requirements at the time of admission.
